MID-IR PHOTODIODES
All PDs are available in TO18, TO5, and SMD packages, and can additionally be configured with the following options:
- (R) Parabolic reflector : to concentrate more radiation towards the forward direction
- (W) Window : to protect the LED chip die from damage
- (T) Thermo electric cooler : for stable operating temperature or wavelength tuning
- (CH) Chalcogenide glass : special glass cover to increase the sensitivity (up to 3-5 times)
The photodiode heterostructure is formed by sequential epitaxy of semiconductor layers on the surface of a crystal substrate. Light is absorbed in the active layer of the PD and the spectral response of the PD is determined by the energy gap of the material in the active layer.
